During the 2020 primary, hundreds of Asian Americans came to support their first presidential candidate in history, Andrew Yang, but the question remained "is America ready for an Asian President?"

Set in New York City, the film tells the story of Asian American supporters of Andrew Yang's campaign during the 2020 election. Being the first Asian American ever to run for President as a democrat, Yang earned a sensational following from the Asian community.

The camera follows Ching Juhl, an Asian volunteer for the campaign. She came to this country 35 years ago and, just like many other Asian supporters I spoke to, this was her first time involving in politics. From September 2019 to March 2020, the filmmaker went along with her and Fulton Hou, the volunteer organizer, to canvassing, fundraisers, rallies, and many other events. I saw their passion and dedication. They marched to the street for UBI, protested for unequal treatment at the debates, stood in the cold to pass brochures, and even flew to early states to knock on doors.

But I also witness how Asian Americans were stereotyped and marginalized by the media and public. And while a lot of Asians came out to support Yang, most remained silent. "There's no way he could win, so why bother," I heard this a lot.

At a fundraiser speaking to a room full of Asian Americans, Yang opened up with his story growing up as an Asian American. "We are a political afterthought in this country." At a time when politics is polarizing the society, Asian has long been marginalized in this country. I asked Ching, "Do you think America is ready for an Asian President?"

Told through intimate personal stories, the film examines the dilemma and challenges the Asian community face in politics and how Yang's campaign may lead a new way forward.
